Questions, answered straight
Before you sit down
Booking, deposits, quotes, sessions, cover-ups, and aftercare, the things people actually ask, answered the way Clayton answers them in the shop.
How do I book a tattoo with Clayton?
Start with the free consultation request on this site: your style, placement, size, and idea. Clayton reviews every request personally and comes back with next steps, a conversation about the design, an honest quote, and available dates. A deposit is required to lock an appointment date; the amount is confirmed at your consultation.
How old do I have to be?
18 or older, with valid photo ID. Bring the ID to your appointment, no ID, no tattoo, no exceptions.
How much does a tattoo cost?
There's no price list, because there's no standard tattoo: size, placement, detail, color, and the number of sessions all move the number. Your consultation ends with a real quote for your piece before any deposit is taken, so you can decide with the full picture.
What does the deposit do?
The deposit reserves your appointment date and the drawing time that goes into your piece. The amount is confirmed at your consultation, before you commit to anything. If you need to reschedule, say so as early as you can, dates held for one client are dates another client can't have.
How long will my session be?
Small traditional pieces often finish in a single sitting. Large color and Japanese work is planned in sessions (outline, background, color), spaced a few weeks apart for healing. Your consultation includes a session plan, so you know the road before you start it.
Can any tattoo be covered up?
Most can. The honest limits: the new piece is usually larger and bolder than the old one, the darkest parts of the old tattoo need equally dark areas in the new design, and very dark or dense work may cover better after a laser lightening session. Send the required photo with your request and you'll get a straight answer about your specific tattoo.
Do you take walk-ins?
Consultations are by request. That's how Clayton protects drawing time for booked work. Walk-in tattoo availability at Wooden Heart Tattoos varies by day; call Clayton at (561) 281-2563 for the fastest answer.
How do I take care of a new tattoo in Florida?
Keep it clean, moisturize lightly, and treat South Florida like the opponent it is: no direct sun, no pool, and no ocean until it's fully healed. The full routine, including what to watch for, is on the aftercare page.
What should I do before my appointment?
Sleep, eat a real meal, hydrate, and skip the alcohol the night before. Wear something that gives easy access to the area being tattooed, and bring your photo ID.
